Coffee Keeps the Doctor Away!
Actually, the headline should really read four cups of coffee a day keeps the mortician away. In case you missed the headlines, researchers have now found that people who consume on average four cups of coffee each day, can reduce their risk of death. Who knew?
This study was conducted by researchers in Spain at the Hospital de Navarra in Pamplona. Researchers studied nearly 20,000 people over a 10 year period and the findings of the study were stunning.
According to the study, participants who consumed a minimum of four cups of coffee each day had a 64% lower risk of mortality than those who never, or almost never, drank coffee. By the way, if you are 45 or older, you can further reduce your risk of death by 30% if you drink an additional two cups of coffee. I was never good at statistics, but it looks like drinking six cups of coffee per day, will make it almost impossible to die!
Here is a great pull quote from the study that every coffee roaster must have to trumpet, "Our findings suggest that drinking four cups of coffee each day can be part of a healthy diet in healthy people," said Dr. Adela Navarro, a cardiologist at Hospital de Navarra, in a statement.
